چکیده
Question: Does a 3-week, home-based cueing program improve gait, gait-related activity, and health-related quality of life in people with Parkinson’s disease (PD)? Design: A multicentre, single-blinded randomised crossover trial. Setting: University medical centres in the UK, Belgium, and The Netherlands. Patients: 153 patients with PD aged between 41 and 80 years and in Hoehn and Yahr stage II–IV were randomly allocated to an ‘early’ or ‘late’ intervention group. Subjects in the late group were put on a 3-week waiting list, without intervention, followed immediately by three weeks of cueing training. The order of the 3-week periods was reversed in the early group. Both groups underwent a follow-up period of 6 weeks without training. Interventions: The cueing program was delivered at home and consisted of nine treatment sessions of 30 minutes. Cueing training in the home improves gait-related mobility in Parkinson's disease: the RESCUE trial.
OBJECTIVES Gait and mobility problems are difficult to treat in people with Parkinson's disease. The Rehabilitation in Parkinson's Disease: Strategies for Cueing (RESCUE) trial investigated the effects of a home physiotherapy programme based on rhythmical cueing on gait and gait-related activity. METHODS A single-blind randomised crossover trial was set up, including 153 patients with Parkins...

Introduction: Parkinson's disease is a chronic brain disorder that occurs as a result of the loss, reduction or damage of dopamine-producing nerve cells in the substantia nigra located in the midbrain. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of 8 weeks of strength-endurance training with olive oil consumption on motor performance and oxidative stress level in the brain of male park...

Purpose. To trial four-week's physiotherapy targeting chair transfers for people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) and explore the feasibility of reliance on remote outcome measurement to preserve blinding. Scope. We recruited 47 PwPD and randomised 24 to a focused home physiotherapy programme (exercise, movement strategies, and cueing) and 23 to a control group. We evaluated transfers (plus mobi...
